Our Story
“Baseball isn’t just a game. It is life being played out on a field—a field of dreams—on Diamonds of green, where players pursuing their dreams try to be the best they can be on the grandest stage of all—where men become boys and boys become men, all speaking one universal language without uttering a single word.” – Tom Tatum
While on a business trip to Cuba, Baseball Libre founder Eric French would find himself having a life changing conversation with a worker at the Estadio Latinamericano, the countries baseball stadium. The two men, with no thoughts of their differences in where they were from, language, or position in life, had a genuine and honest conversation about something they did share—The love of baseball.
Eric felt that God led him to this moment, this man, and this calling. A dream was ignited inside of him that day. A dream that baseball, being more than a game, could truly change lives. Baseball Libre was created to bring the opportunity to play baseball to more young players across Latin America.
Differences do not exist around the bases and the game shows us that we can find common ground. Baseball Libre wants to shine a spotlight on this common ground and how, together, we can go farther. United, we play.
We’re dedicated to rallying communities in Latin America by restoring the baseball infrastructure.
We are a team that believes work is more fulfilling when we can be ourselves; when there is no limit to what we think, say, love, or dream. We encourage being quirky, unrhythmic, and real.
We allow individuals and the communities we serve to be who they choose to be, and we support and encourage them to be their best.
Our actions make a meaningful and positive influence on the communities we serve and one another.
